Ecumenical Men's Group
Originally started in September 2006
as a group for men of the First
Presbyterian Church; however, from
the very first meeting we have been
an ecumenical group. We have men
from several different congregations
in the St Croix Valley.
Our Mission:
Through our belief in Jesus Christ
as our Lord and Savior, we provide a
fellowship for men of all faiths to
support each other in our day-to-day
lives.
Meeting on the second Saturday
morning of every month from
7:30am - 9:00am, we
fellowship and have a hearty
breakfast prepared by our men’s
kitchen crew. After catching up with
each other’s lives, we have bible
readings followed by a presentation
of interest to the group generally
about the mission work of our
members. We have had presenters
from other religions to enhance our
understanding of their beliefs.
Though our free will offerings to
cover our meal expenses we have also
donated over $1100 to local
charities.

Presbyterian
Club
The Presbyterian Club has a long
history at First Presbyterian Church
and had appealed to various age
groups over the years. Currently,
most of the participants are “empty
nesters”, but everyone is
welcome. The group meets the first
Thursday of the month (except
December, January and February) at
6:00 at the church. Occasionally,
we gather at individual homes. The
theme of the group is “Focus on
Food and Fellowship”. A pot
luck meal provides both food and
fellowship. At most of the
meetings, we have a speaker or
program. Our current mission is to
supply the volunteers and food
donations to the Christian Food
Cupboard during the year; but
specifically during the month of
April when First Pres is responsible
for the distribution of food from
the CFC. As everyone knows, the
best way to feel apart of and become
involved in a congregation is
participating in a small group.

Shrove Tuesday
Pancake Supper
Shrove Tuesday
has always been an important day
preceding Ash Wednesday the first
day of the Lenten period. Shrove
Tuesday is the last day upon which
feasting, drinking, and merriment
could take place before the
solemnities and fasting of Lent
began. On this day the last
supplies of butter and fat were
thrown out of (shroven) their
cupboards and made into pancakes.
